You must obtain a New York Pistol Permit and be registered as a security guard to take this course. Upon completion, you receive a certificate that you submit when applying for an upgraded armed guard registration.

8 Hour Annual Firearms Training Course for Armed Security Guards

Along with the annual 8 Hour in-service training, you must complete an 8 Hour Annual Firearms Training course. It must be competed once during each calendar year to maintain two-year armed guard registration.

F-89 Fire and Life Safety Director Course

The ISS F-89 fire and life safety directorcourse includes components that instruct applicants in all three key areas of fire and life safety required for full certification. Those components including, Fire safety instruction, Non-fire emergency response instruction, Active shooter and medical emergency response.

Fire and Life Safety Director Qualification Requirements

In addition to the required curriculum,candidates who wish to become fire and life safety directors must meet certain qualification requirements. These requirements include two years of full-time experience in one of several approved occupations, or eighteen months of work experience in those occupations and six-months of employment at a single job site.

F-89 Certification

New York City fire safety rules mandate that certain types of occupied structures employ qualified, certified fire safety directors to take responsibility for safety training, disaster preparation, evacuations, and other emergency responses. Individuals who want to become a certified fire and life safety director must meet certain qualification requirements and attend an approved F-89 fire and life safety director course to obtain their certification.
